Description

Being a responsible traveler in a multicultural world:

This class will involve us taking a trip to all four corners of planet Earth and immersing ourselves in the different sights and sounds on offer. While visiting each of the different cultures we will work together to consider ways that we might change or adapt our communication styles.

Sequence

  1. Brainstorm the typical check in process. This introduces the topic of the class – being a mindful traveler in other people’s lands. Next destination is South America.
  2. Conclude world tour with summary together of main points and lessons learned.
  3. We jump into the first trip to Shanghai, China, soaking up the atmosphere and discussing how different a place like that is from where we live. We begin to understand as a group what the similarities and differences might be and how our communication style might differ compared to when we are in our hometown.
