Description

Think On Your Feet: This lesson will involve you standing on stage to deliver a short talk about a random topic for 2 minutes. Everyone will be given the chance to test their confidence and communication skills in a way that they haven’t before, by having to quickly come up with something to say. This activity also builds passive communication skills by enabling participants to understand how better to provide feedback to others.

Sequence

0 - 5 mins:  Introduction to the course and this class. 5 - 10:  quick brainstorming in a group about what a good public speaker is. 10 - 15:  head over to the TED talk stage and participants are introduced to the activity. 15 - 45 mins:  each participant will be given a 3D object which relates to a particular topic.  They must talk about the topic for 2 minutes and at the end they will be provided feedback by other participants on how they communicated verbally and non-verbally. 45 - 55 mins:  wrap up of the activity, tips for the future and lessons learned.
