Sequence

  1. Students will begin the lesson by learning about mood through a virtual field trip. The video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3ft-bnUGPg
  2. I will pause the video after each scene (stanza) and ask the following questions:
    1. How does the character sound?
    2. How is the character acting?
    3. What colors do you see?
    4. What are some of the objects?
  3. We will return to Mystvale College. I have set up whiteboards all around the room
  4. Students will draw an image from the stanza that is beside their whiteboard.
  5. I will summon everyone back to the center of the college. I will delete the sticky notes of the stanzas.
  6. Students will choose another whiteboard other than their own. They will write a Haiku based on what they are seeing in the picture.
  7. I will spawn the original stanza beside their Haiku.
  8. We will have a conversation if the moods are the same or if the drawings changed the mood.
